Welcome to the Minnesota Falconers Association, we are a non-political, non-profit organization whose purpose is the preservation of the sport of falconry and the conservation of birds of prey. The purpose of the MFA is to provide communication among and to disseminate relevant information to club members; to promote scientific study of the raptorial species, the care, welfare, and training; to promote conservation of the birds of prey and an appreciation of their value in nature and in wildlife conservation programs; to urge recognition of falconry as a legal field sport; and to establish traditions which will aid, perpetuate, and further the welfare of falconry, and the raptors it employs. Falconry is the oldest form of companion hunting known to man, birds of prey where used to hunt with before dogs and other hunting animals. Caring for, training and hunting with a raptor cannot be considered the same as keeping a pet or other domestic animal. This sport is extremely demanding and time consuming. It requires a great deal of knowledge, skill and commitment in order to be successful. Click here for a current set of Minnesota Falconry Regulations
On this site you will find a brief history of falconry, information about our organization and information on how to become a falconer. |
